1. Grit
Angela Duckworth describes grit as the combination of passion and persistence to achieve your goals. She studied a variety of different difficult backgrounds and found that having ability to continue on your dreams after failing and going through difficult situations made people successful. At the end of the day, you need a deeper goal, a reason, a desire, to be better or to do better.
When I was in high school, my goal was to be an engineer since 9th grade. One day, my teacher said that due to my grades and performance, I was not admitted to the Advanced Placement class. From this moment, I wanted to prove to myself that I can make it to the University of Waterloo for engineering. My whole mindset changed after I was humbled and realized I have to work harder than anyone else to be at the top.
2. Dreamer
All successful people envision a future. You have to be a dreamer. Fully immersing into the person that you want to be 2 years from now. Vision Boards are great starting points. First, look at your hobbies and your interests because you’re already passionate about it!
3. Willpower
If you got everything right on the first try, you’d be elite. Matter of fact is that when you start something new or difficult you will fail. A lot. Having the willpower to keep failing and getting back up like your boy, Rocky Balboa makes you ahead of the curve!
